The moral of this story is well hidden to some, but to others it is very obvious. Plainly put, the moral of this story is that Death is inevitable. The servant tries to escape Death, but in reality he was just running towards it. The meaning is another level. One example is of the ”fastest horse”, who as fast as he is, couldn’t outrun death. Our “fastest horse” may be medicine or healthy living, but all that does is extend our pre written destiny. There is no avoiding something is already planned for us. Like in the story, when Death gave a chilling statement referring to his fate,”I was astonished to see him in Baghdad, for I have an appointment with him tonight in Samarra.”
